As I travel around the nation, I pass many fairs when they are closed. I seem to notice if the entrances appear inviting all year round or if the fair looks abandoned. This is especially important if you are trying to attract off-season events. →
Was the lawn cut? Do the buldings look empty? Does the entrance make me ask, “When will the fair be coming?” and, “How long before I can re-live that great experience that I had last time I was here?”
A nice facade at the entrance makes a world of difference. It is the cover to your book. The ferris wheel might be gone and the kids may not be asking “Is it fairtime yet?” but you want to make them think about it.
