Sidonie Adamson
A circus artist and coach to aerialists, stunt performers, and outside-of-the-box athletes, Sidonie's specialty is helping artistic athletes reinvigorate their practices, discover unknown capacities, and level up with longevity.
Her lifetime in creative athletics and performing arts has seen her perform across three continents with notable organizations such as Les Sept Doigts de La Main, St. John’s Circus Fest, and Anystage Productions. She has lit up stages as a circus artist, hung from trees as a vertical dancer, performed in international festivals, curated and produced cross-continental shows, and dazzled as an aerialist for outrageously expensive weddings.
Sidonie Adamson is a circus performer specializing in solo and duo aerial hoop and Cascorde, a unique aerial apparatus created with Tanya Burka in 2014. She is a versatile artist whose career has spanned multiple continents and countless performances ranging from cruise ships and tours to intimate local cabarets and corporate events.
Recent highlights include creating virtual worlds with Les 7 Doigts de la Main (winning audience choice at SIGGRAPH 2021), absurdly extravagant events with Anystage productions (including the 2019 Ambani wedding in Mumbai) and a brief guest appearance in Bacio Rosso, Vancouver’s first dinner cabaret theatre.
Valuing creative research, bad ideas, and musicality, her acts always deliver a unique experience. Multiple times, they have been selected to appear in renowned festivals, such as the St John’s International Circus Festival and the Transform Cabaret Festival. Most recently, the debut of her duo aerial hoop act with Tanya Burka (Duo Vespertilio) was described as “The act everyone kept talking about” at the 2022 St John’s International Circus Festival by festival director Anahareo Doelle.
Following her solo performances at the 2019 and 2020 Transform Cabaret Festival, Sidonie was brought on to the 2021 festival as a co-curator/director with Cris Derksen (acclaimed composer and cellist) for an international digital show bringing together indigenous composers and circus artists. The show Classical Cirque was an audience favorite and has been used as an example in educational settings as inspiration for cultural collaboration.
In addition to her performing career, Sidonie is a coach to creative athletes, including aerialists and stunt performers. Her students have gone on to study at the ENC, achieve full-time stunt careers and excel as international performers.
She lives in Vancouver, BC, with her Human cat (Mungo) and 17-year-old frog (Timmay). She is an avid plant lover, and in her spare time, she loves sewing and anything outdoors, especially if the chances of finding amphibians are high.
Sido is one of western Canada’s most sought-after aerial coaches, offering in-depth 1:1 athletic mentorships and small group intensives in aerial hoop, silk, and act creation.
